Museums, Galleries And The Earth Crisis: Taking The Long View

Weds 10th April, 6pm – 7:15pm

Museums and galleries have a special role in the climate and biodiversity crisis because they are mandated to take a long-term view, beyond short term politics and economics. Our expert speakers will dive into a discussion on how art institutions can provide positive examples of climate action that move us away from anxiety and powerlessness.

How can artists provoke action? What are the lines between action, activism and extremism? And has the idea of ‘neutrality’ shifted as the world has progressed?

We will also be thinking about the ethics of sponsorship and what practical issues face heritage buildings in a quest towards net zero.

Join an insightful conversation with Dr. Nick Merriman, Heath Lowndes, Alison Tickell. Moderated by Victoria Siddall.
